FAQs:

Who is the course designed for?

This is a course specially for independent, private and NHS midwives who attend home births.

Who are the trainers?

Nicky Grace is a midwife with twenty-four years of clinical experience and has attended home births since 2004. Nicky is a registered midwife and has a postgraduate module from the University of Nottingham ‘Best Practice in Perineal Care’. Nicky is an experienced trainer and educator and is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.

Jim Thornton is Emeritus Professor of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at the University of Nottingham. Jim recently retired from his position as consultant obstetrician and gynaecologist and has over thirty years experience as an obstetrician, surgeon, researcher and educator.

Are discounted tickets available?

The cost has been kept as low as possible. All materials for suturing practice, and all food and drink, are provided. Therefore there are no discounts available but there may be other subsided workshops in the future.

What is your refund policy?

Tickets can be swapped with another participant but no refunds will be offered for those unable to attend.

Is there a minimum and maximum number of participants?

The minimum number of participants is 6 and the maximum is 12. If there are fewer than six participants the study day will be rearranged and a full refund offered to those who have bought tickets.

Are student midwives able to attend?

The course is aimed at those attending home births so it is not specifically for students, but they are welcome to attend.

Is this course suitable for those who have never sutured or is it a refresher for those who have already trained in suturing?

The study day provides theory and simulated suturing practice with support from trainers and  will provide an update for those with previous suturing experience. The study day could form the theoretical and practical basis for perineal suturing for midwives new to suturing if they can obtain appropriate supervision in practice.

Please contact Nicky Grace for further information either by phone or WhatsApp: 07361430379 or nicky@gracewife.co.uk

Please note that your email receipt will act as your ticket. Please check your spam/junk and don’t worry if it doesn’t appear as sometimes the email is caught by a firewall but Nicky has a list of everyone who buys a ticket. Email Nicky at nicky@gracewife.co.uk if you don’t receive your receipt but if you pay for a ticket you will have a place on the course!
Every attempt will be made to run the event but if there are insufficient participants or if there are unforeseen circumstances, we may need to cancel and/or rearrange. The organisers reserve the right to screen participants to ensure their suitability for the workshop and refund tickets at their discretion.
